Sometimes 24 hours is all you can spare, but it can be enough time if you spend it wisely. #DreamDayIn is my series of dawn-till-dusk travel guides. From what I’d eat to where I’d lay my head to rest and everything in between, this is my dream day in…

Washington DC

7:30am: Wake up at The Darcy Hotel

8am: Walk 20mins to Solidcore for a workout (I loved it so much, plus so does Michelle Obama apparently)

9am: Grab a coffee and avo toast over the road at Bluestone Lane.

9:15am: There are a ton of museums and memorials in DC. Head to the National Museum of African American History and Culture first as you’ll need a good 2-3 hours here, there’s a lot to soak up.

11am: Stroll down the National Mall and check out a few more of the Smithsonian Institutes (there are 11 along the Mall and 17 in DC altogether!). I recommend the National Museum of Natural History, the Hirshhorn and the National Museum of African Art.

1pm: Admire the cherry blossoms that fringe the Tidal Basin and see the Martin Luther King Jr, Roosevelt, Jefferson and Lincoln memorials.

1:30pm: Grab an Uber 5 mins to Georgetown (you’ll be too hungry to walk by now) and stop off at Chaia Tacos for an easy lunch.

2:30pm: Have a little walk around Georgetown (Take Care Shop DC for natural beauty, Ella Rue for second hand gems and Bridge Street Books because their poetry selection is wonderful) and then head to District Winery for a late afternoon wine tasting session at this cool urban winery. Pick up a bottle of the 2014 Pinot Noir – Los Carneros to take home (so good!!).

8pm: Go to Tail Up Goat for an informal, family-style dinner and take some friends as you’ll want to order one of everything.

10pm: Grab a nightcap at The Gibson because it’s a classic and then call your Uber back to The Darcy, or take a detour to the U Street corridor where there’s a cluster of jazz bars to discover.
